Pakistan Foreign Minister’s visit to Geneva increases speculation about possible Iran-US deal

While speculation continues about the signing of a possible memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States, regional media outlets have reported on the visit of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar to Geneva, Switzerland.

Al-Arabiya TV reported, citing its sources, that Ishaq Dar left for Geneva last evening, and it is likely that the city will host negotiations and consultations related to a possible agreement between Tehran and Washington.

At the same time, an informed source told Iran’s IRNA news agency that the Pakistani Foreign Minister’s visit was carried out within the framework of Islamabad’s continued mediation efforts between Tehran and Washington, and coordination to reach a possible understanding is on the agenda of this trip.

These developments come as Iranian, American, and Pakistani officials have spoken in recent days about the progress of the talks, and some reports indicate that the parties are close to signing an initial memorandum of understanding.

Pakistan and Qatar have played an active role in mediating between Tehran and Washington in recent months, and Ishaq Dar’s trip to Geneva could be part of diplomatic efforts to finalize a possible agreement between the two sides.
