Colombian President Rejects Trump and Rubio’s Accusations, Defends His Country’s Sovereignty

Colombian President Gustavo V. Petro, on Monday Donald Trump’s remarks the US President rejected the accusations of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and, emphasizing his legal authority as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, defended his government’s anti-drug policies and warned against any foreign interference in Colombian sovereignty.

Petro wrote in posts on X Network that Rubio did not understand the Colombian constitution correctly and was providing false information.

The Colombian president described the accusations as politically motivated, linked to organized crime, aimed at damaging bilateral relations with Washington.

He warned against any attempt to arrest him, saying that such an action would lead to the release of the beloved Panther and that any commander who preferred the American flag to the Colombian flag would be immediately dismissed.

Petro’s remarks came in the wake of the US military operation in Venezuela and the kidnapping of Maduro and his wife, which has increased tensions in the region.
