Suspicious drone attack on Samood fleet, fire in Tunisian waters and rising tensions

In a controversial incident that has heightened tensions in the Mediterranean Sea, the main ship of the Samood flotilla, which is carrying international Freedom Flotilla Coalition activists and humanitarian aid to Gaza, was attacked by a suspected drone on Monday evening.

The flotilla, which set out to break the blockade of Gaza, caught fire in Tunisian waters, and CCTV footage captured the moment of the collision.

Mustafa Barghouti, a doctor and member of the Palestinian parliament and one of the leaders of the fleet, wrote in a post on the social network X: “According to information from the organizers, one of the main ships of the Samood fleet was attacked last night near the coast of Tunisia by a suspected Israeli drone and caught fire.”

The organizers described the attack as an attack on Gaza and an attempt to prevent aid from reaching the Gaza Strip, although Tunisian authorities immediately denied these claims.

Organizers have announced that they are determined to continue the march and have called for international protection.
