The world of cardinals awaits the election of a new pope

The assembly of cardinals who gathered in the Sistine Chapel to elect a new pope failed to elect a new pope in the first round of voting.

Simultaneously with the closing of the doors of the Sistine Chapel on Wednesday and the announcement of the Latin extra omnes (all outside), the 133 cardinals present in this assembly began the task of electing the successor of the late Pope Francis.

According to the news agency RIA Novosti, black smoke rose from the chimney on the roof of the Sistine Chapel, which means that the new pope has not been elected yet.

It is reported that another assembly will be held today, and voters will gather again in the church at 10:30 a.m. Rome time to cast their ballots again for the election of the 267 Amen Pope.

The election of the new pope, who will be the 267th pope in the church’s 2,000-year history, may take some time.

The world will continue to wait for the smoke to rise from the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican until a new Pope is elected to lead the world’s 1.4 billion Catholics.
