The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that after a six-year legal dispute, a jury in the state of California ruled that NSO, the producer of the Israeli spyware Pegasus, must pay the amount of 168 million dollars more than 605 million shekels to Meta, the owner of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram.
This verdict was issued following NSO’s illegal intrusion into WhatsApp servers using Pegasus software; An action in which about 1,400 users, including journalists, human rights activists and diplomats in different countries, were targeted for espionage.
