Russian skydiver sets world record by jumping from over 11km
Russian athlete and skydiver Sergei Boytsov set a new record for the highest altitude hot air balloon jump by jumping from an altitude of 11,551 meters from a hot air balloon in the Altai region of Russia.
According to reports, Boytsov’s free fall speed reached about 500 kilometers per hour, and he successfully landed after opening his parachute at an altitude of about 1,565 meters.
The jump was held on the occasion of Russia’s State Flag Day and with the support of the country’s sports institutions, breaking the previous record of 10,060 meters.
