54 migrants, including 15 Afghan citizens, arrested near the Polish-Lithuanian border
The Polish border guard has announced that it has detained 54 migrants, including 15 Afghan citizens, near the country’s border with Lithuania.
According to Polish authorities, the migrants were hiding in a truck with Romanian license plates. The group included 30 Pakistani citizens, 15 Afghan citizens, and 9 Bangladeshi citizens, all of whom had entered Poland without legal documents.
Authorities added that the driver of the vehicle is a Romanian citizen and that investigations into how the people were transported and attempted to cross the border illegally are ongoing.
According to the Polish border guard, these migrants will be returned to Lithuania under a “readmission” agreement.
