Afghanistan among climate-vulnerable countries with 90 million displaced people at risk

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has warned that nearly 90 million displaced people worldwide are living in countries facing the risk of drought, flooding and extreme heat.

According to the organization’s report, nearly three-quarters of the world’s displaced people live in climate-vulnerable countries, including Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Climate change continues to make it difficult for displaced people to return sustainably, and the United Nations has called for increased financial assistance to address these threats.
