Zalmay Khalilzad condemns Pakistan’s attacks on Afghanistan

Former US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad condemned Pakistan’s airstrikes on Afghanistan last night, saying that Islamabad, despite domestic and international calls to resolve differences through dialogue, has once again attacked Afghan soil and martyred and injured dozens of civilians.

Khalilzad added that Pakistan has not yet responded constructively to the plans and proposals agreed to by the Islamic Emirate, raising the question of whether Islamabad is truly seeking to resolve differences or is pursuing other goals in Afghanistan.

He has warned that if Pakistan’s goal is to destabilize Afghanistan and increase China’s influence in the region, this policy will conflict with the interests of the United States and could lead to the expansion of the activities of terrorist groups, especially ISIS-K, and exacerbate geopolitical challenges in the region.
