Ministry of Health: Yemen’s blockade and closure of Sanaa airport have created a medicine crisis

Anis al-Asbahi, spokesman for the Yemeni Ministry of Public Health, announced that the closure of Sanaa Airport is a “war crime” and a clear violation of international laws and treaties.

He said that the restrictions imposed and the closure of the field have caused the loss of more than 30 percent of vital medicines, equivalent to about 100 tons, in 2024.

According to Al-Asbahi, disruptions in the transportation of medicines requiring special conditions and the cold chain have presented serious problems to the process of supplying medicines and have negatively affected the condition of patients, especially those suffering from chronic diseases.

The spokesman for the Yemeni Ministry of Health emphasized that the continuation of this situation could exacerbate the humanitarian and health crisis in the country.
