In a joint statement, France, Britain, Germany, and Italy welcomed the announcement of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States, describing it as an important step towards reducing tensions and strengthening regional stability.
The four countries announced that they are ready to lift related sanctions if Iran takes clear and verifiable steps regarding its nuclear program.
The statement congratulated the United States, Iran, and intermediary countries, including Pakistan and Qatar, on this diplomatic achievement, emphasizing that this opportunity could help restore regional stability and strengthen the global economy.
European countries have also considered it necessary to immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz and ensure unconditional freedom of navigation, and have announced their readiness to participate in independent defense missions to ensure the security of commercial shipping and mine-sweeping operations.
The statement continued by emphasizing that Iran should not obtain nuclear weapons and that European countries will cooperate with the United States, Iran, and the International Atomic Energy Agency to achieve this goal.
France, Britain, Germany and Italy have also stressed their full support for the stability of Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and the importance of establishing a lasting ceasefire in the country.
