Mohsen Rezaei, a military advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, announced that progress in a possible agreement between Iran and the United States depends on the release of $24 billion in the country’s frozen assets.
In an interview with CNN, Rezaei said that negotiations between the two countries have reached a deadlock and that now the decision in this regard depends on Donald Trump.
He emphasized that Iran wants to release $12 billion after the agreement is signed and another $12 billion in subsequent stages, and considered this move a test of trust between Tehran and Washington.
The Iranian leader’s military advisor also warned that if the war resumes, America will enter a dark corridor, adding that these assets belong to Iran.
Rezaei went on to rule out the possibility of a meeting between Trump and Mojtaba Khamenei, saying that negotiations between the two countries have currently been halted.
