Researchers: Population decline could put humanity’s future in crisis

A group of researchers has predicted in a new report that the continued decline in the global fertility rate could lead to a sharp decline in the human population over the coming centuries.

According to this model, the world population may enter a downward trend after reaching about 8.4 to 9 billion people in 2039.

This study, citing data from 2019 to 2025 in different regions of the world, cites factors such as a decrease in the desire to have children, the spread of contraceptive methods, increased infertility, high living costs, and an aging population as the main reasons for this trend.

Researchers have emphasized that these findings are a scientific model and a possible scenario, and that future population decline does not necessarily mean that such an outcome will definitely occur.
