Russian drone attack on Kiev’s North Bridge coincides with German Chancellor’s visit

At the same time as German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz was visiting Kiev, the city’s northern bridge was targeted by a Russian drone attack. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced that the bridge’s road surface was damaged and rescue forces were dispatched to the scene.

The attack came as Mertz arrived in Kiev on Sunday to announce Berlin’s support for Ukraine; he said that if Russia is not stopped, its war machine could sooner or later threaten Europe.

Reports indicate that major bridges in Kiev have been targeted several times in recent days, affecting traffic in the Ukrainian capital.

Russia had previously described the attacks on Kiev bridges as part of its retaliatory attacks, saying that these bridges were used to transport troops and military equipment.
