Delay in sending Pakistani delegation to Afghanistan due to Middle East tensions

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced that the formation of a Pakistani delegation to Afghanistan has been delayed due to rising tensions in the Middle East.

He emphasized that the security of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is directly linked to the situation in Afghanistan, adding that this delegation will soon be formed and dispatched to Afghanistan.

Afridi also said that the livelihoods of Pashtuns on both sides of the hypothetical Durand Line depend on trade, and that keeping the ports closed would cause economic losses to both sides.

According to him, the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa suffers losses of about 10 billion taels annually due to the closure of ports.

Stressing the importance of dialogue, the Pakistani official added that the solution to problems does not lie in military operations and that if weapons are used, they should be “wisely,” not “crazily.”
