US President Donald Trump announced in a press conference that he believes the shooting incident at the hotel where the White House Correspondents’ Dinner was held was not related to the Iran war, but that the incident was under investigation.
He also said that the gunman was quickly arrested by security forces and the US Secret Service, and that a security officer was injured in the incident, but his health condition is reported to be good.
Trump said the attacker had attacked a checkpoint with several weapons but was contained by security forces and further casualties were prevented.
Referring to the investigations conducted, he emphasized that the level of security measures at the venue of the event was not sufficient.
Trump has also said that the White House Correspondents’ Dinner will be held again in the near future.
