Adil Raja Pakistani army’s operation in Tirah is not against hashish but for strategic access to Afghanistan

Reacting to the Pakistani army’s military operation in the Tirah region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Adil Raja, a former Pakistani army officer and well-known journalist, said that the real goal of the army is not to fight hashish or drugs.

“The Pakistani military wants to gain strategic access to Tirah to use it against Afghanistan through ISIS,” Raja wrote in a post on X.

The Pakistani army has launched a military operation in Tirah, displacing hundreds of families from their homes.

The military claims that the operation is against terrorist groups, but critics and local residents say the move is putting pressure on the local population and causing unnecessary displacement.

Adil Raja, who has been highly critical of the Pakistani military in previous years, this time again highlighted the political and strategic goals behind the operation, saying that these actions further jeopardize regional stability.
