Trump:Venezuelan President must step down

US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday morning that he would keep Venezuela’s seized oil and tankers and called on the country’s president to step down.

“We are holding the oil and the ships that are being seized near Venezuela,” Trump told reporters at the White House.

He claimed that if the Venezuelan president takes a tough stance, it would be the last time he does so, adding that his resignation would be the wise thing to do.

The US president also claimed that Venezuela was abusing America’s open borders and continued his claims: “They are producing cocaine in Colombia and the president of this country is not our friend. They should close down the cocaine factories in the country.”

Trump’s remarks are the latest escalation of tensions between Washington and Caracas over the seizure of a Venezuelan tanker that had previously been seized by American forces.
