Islamabad and the European Union called on the Islamic Emirate to play a constructive role in the fight against terrorism

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaya Kallas yesterday.

The meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the seventh round of the European Union’s Pakistan Strategic Dialogue, discussed bilateral relations and developments in the region, especially the recent tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry announced in a press release that Islamabad emphasized its commitment to regional peace, stability, and prosperity and to resolving issues through constructive dialogue with neighbors, and called on the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to play an effective and constructive role in line with the common goal of combating terrorism.

In this meeting, both sides supported a peaceful, stable Afghanistan committed to ensuring regional stability and emphasized the need to continue a credible political process led by the United Nations, in accordance with the Doha process and the Islamic Emirate’s commitments to the international community.
