Iranian Foreign Minister: Trade volume between Iran and Afghanistan is greater than total trade with Europe

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi announced in an interview with a domestic media outlet that the current level of trade between Iran and Afghanistan has exceeded Iran’s total trade with European countries.

Emphasizing Afghanistan’s special position in Iran’s economic relations, Araqchi added, “Iran’s border provinces can play a key role in expanding bilateral trade exchanges, and many border issues can be resolved through dialogue between local authorities on both sides.”

These statements come as Iran recently announced that it will export 1,000 tons of cement to Afghanistan every week, a move that demonstrates Tehran’s determination to further strengthen trade relations with Kabul.

The expansion of bilateral trade in recent months, especially after the increase in exchanges through common border routes, has become one of the main axes of economic cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan.
