Treating cancer with LED light is a cheap and safe achievement without harming healthy cells.

Scientists from the University of Texas and the University of Porto in Portugal have developed a revolutionary method for treating cancer that uses conventional LED light and tin oxide nanosheets (Snox).

This technology is a low-cost and safe alternative to traditional photothermal therapy (PTT), which relied on expensive lasers and gold nanoparticles.

SnOx nanosheets with an impressive photothermal conversion efficiency of 93% convert near-infrared light into heat, selectively destroying cancer cells while completely sparing healthy cells.

In laboratory tests, this method was able to eliminate 92 percent of skin cancer cells and 50 percent of colon cancer cells after just 30 minutes of LED light exposure, without any damage to healthy tissue.

Researchers have announced that this innovation could significantly reduce the costs of cancer treatment, increase safety, and make it more accessible to patients.
