Belgium, Luxembourg and Malta recognize Palestine as an independent state

Belgium, Luxembourg, and Malta are the third to fifth countries, respectively, to recognize the State of Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly.

The announcement was made at a special two-state solution meeting hosted by France and Saudi Arabia, following the UK, Canada, Australia and Portugal.

“This is a historic moment that is essential for lasting peace,” Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden said in his speech.

Belgium and Malta also emphasized the need for a two-state solution and an end to the war in Gaza.

More than 155 UN member states now recognize Palestine, and this new wave of diplomatic pressure has increased on the Zionist regime.
