Artificial intelligence on the verge of realizing the dream of talking to animals

Scientists are trying to unravel the mystery of animal language using artificial intelligence and large language models (LLMs).

This scientific breakthrough, made possible by collaborations with companies like Google DeepMind and non-profit organizations, may one day make humanity’s long-held dream of communicating with animals a reality.

Researchers around the world are deciphering the complex communication patterns of non-human species by analyzing animal sounds and signals, from dolphin calls to elephant naming.

The non-profit organization Earth Species Project, founded in 2017, has developed a unique artificial intelligence model called NatureLM-audio.

This model, which is the first large-scale linguistic audio model for animal sounds, is designed to understand the communication of all non-human species.

These projects, powered by artificial intelligence, could transform our understanding of nature and pave the way for deeper interactions with living things.
