According to international media reports, the foreign ministers of the Group of Seven countries – Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union’s foreign policy chief – called for the resumption of nuclear negotiations with Iran in a joint statement after a meeting on June 25, 2025 in The Hague, Holland.
The statement, published on the Canadian government’s website, emphasized the need to reach a comprehensive, verifiable, and sustainable agreement on Iran’s nuclear program.
The G7 foreign ministers also supported the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, announced by US President Donald Trump, according to the statement, and called on all parties to refrain from actions that could lead to further instability in the Middle East.
The statement comes at a time when Iran has repeatedly denied allegations of trying to acquire nuclear weapons.
The Group of Seven claimed that Iran should not acquire nuclear weapons and should refrain from unjustified enrichment activities.
