Marhaf Abu Qasra, the Minister of Defense of the interim government of Syria, announced that Damascus is ready for the continuation of the Russian military presence in this country, including the air and naval bases in Hmeimim and Tartous, as long as it provides for the interests of Syria.
The defense minister of the Syrian interim government added that Moscow’s position towards Damascus has improved significantly after the political change that took place in Syria, and that Syria is seriously considering Russia’s demands.
In response to a question about whether Russia would be allowed to keep its naval base in Tartus and Hmeimim air base in Latakia, Marhaf Abu Qasra said yes if it would benefit Syria.
