Deadlock in Israeli cabinet formation, opposition seeks to end Netanyahu’s rule

Following the announcement of the results of the Israeli elections, rival parties will begin consultations and negotiations with other political movements on Thursday to form a new cabinet, as no party has been able to secure the required majority of 61 seats.

According to the announced results, the opposition camp has won 48 seats and the ruling coalition led by Netanyahu has won 53 seats, and the Arab parties have won a total of nearly 19 seats; an issue that could play a decisive role in the equations of forming a cabinet.

Meanwhile, Arab parties have announced their readiness to support the formation of an opposition-led cabinet with the aim of ousting Netanyahu and his coalition; however, the formation of a new cabinet depends on an agreement between the parties and securing a parliamentary majority.
