End of regular Knesset election vote count; political competition to form government continues
With the completion of the regular vote count for the Israeli Knesset (parliament) elections, based on published reports, the Likud coalition led by Benjamin Netanyahu has won 53 seats, the opposition movement known as “Change” led by Gadi Eisenkot has won 48 seats, and Arab parties have won 19 seats.
The Israeli Central Election Committee had previously announced, after counting about 70% of the votes, that Likud had won 54 seats and the opposition 47 seats.
Meanwhile, Youssef Jabarin, head of the Joint Arab List, said Arab parties were ready to overthrow Netanyahu’s government.
Reports indicate that around 600,000 votes, known as “double envelopes,” have not yet been counted, and the final result of the seat distribution will become clearer once this process is completed.
