Putin: Conditions are difficult for talks; Witkoff and Kushner to go to Kiev after Moscow

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a meeting with US representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, said that the conditions for dialogue are difficult, but direct contacts would still be beneficial.

Putin sent his best wishes to US President Donald Trump, saying that Trump will not relent in his efforts to help resolve the Russia-Ukraine war.

The Russian president emphasized that Vitkoff and Kushner will travel to Kiev after their meeting in Moscow, and that the details of the process of resolving the Ukrainian conflict will be discussed with them. Putin also mentioned the high level of trust in these two representatives as mediators.

Putin said that a request to stop attacks on Kiev had been received through official channels and that there had been no attacks on the Ukrainian capital since this morning; he added that Russia had not agreed with Ukraine on a broad three-day ceasefire, but that the Ukrainian side had significantly reduced the number of attacks.

Steve Witkoff also thanked Putin for the meeting and called the conversation with the Russian president one of the best and most memorable events of his life.

Witkoff and Kushner had previously arrived in Moscow, and according to Trump’s statements, they were supposed to present proposals to end the war in Ukraine during this trip. After the meeting, the convoy carrying the US special representatives left the Kremlin compound.
