Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has announced that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed despite a temporary transit agreement with Oman, and for it to be fully reopened, Washington must return to its commitments under the memorandum of understanding.
US President Donald Trump has claimed that all mines in the international waters of the Strait of Hormuz have been cleared and detonated, and Tehran has been warned that any ship attempting to lay new mines will be “destroyed.”
The US State Department has also announced in a media interview that Washington has taken practical steps to end what it calls the Iranian threat and will impose further restrictions on Tehran’s remaining financial resources following recent sanctions.
