The Navy of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has announced that its forces have identified and captured an American unmanned submarine in the Strait of Hormuz in a coordinated operation.
According to the IRGC, the vessel was a Remus 600 and was operating in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz; the IRGC has stated that the vessel was used for intelligence gathering and espionage and is now at the disposal of the agency’s specialists for investigation and retrieval of information.
The IRGC Navy has also announced that the Strait of Hormuz is closed and will deal with what it calls “unauthorized traffic and dangerous movements in this waterway.”
