Amnesty International: 2025 will be the deadliest year for journalists in the world

Amnesty International has announced on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day that 2025 was the deadliest year on record for journalists, with 129 journalists killed worldwide.

The organization’s press release quoted the Committee to Protect Journalists as saying that two-thirds of these deaths were attributed to Israel, and that the Gaza Strip was the deadliest place for media activity.

The organization has warned that targeting journalists not only threatens their lives but also jeopardizes access to reliable information.

Amnesty International believes that the ongoing conflicts and media restrictions in various regions have posed serious challenges to the role of journalists in providing information.
