Zelensky: Next trilateral talks likely to be held in Abu Dhabi in early March
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Thursday that the next round of trilateral talks between Ukraine, Russia and the United States will most likely be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, in early March.
“Most likely, the next meeting will be held in the UAE, specifically in Abu Dhabi,” Zelensky said in a video message posted on his Telegram channel. “We expect this meeting to take place in early March.”
He added that the goal of this round of negotiations is to finalize previous achievements, ensure real security, and prepare the ground for a summit meeting.
Previously, the first round of trilateral talks was held in Abu Dhabi on January 23 and 24, and the second round was held on February 4 and 5; Geneva also hosted talks on February 17 and 18.
The Russian delegation was led by Vladimir Medinsky, an aide to the Russian president. Medinsky described the talks as difficult but professional and announced that a new meeting would be held in the near future.
Zelensky’s remarks came after the conclusion of the round of bilateral talks between Ukraine and the United States in Geneva, which ended without announcing a specific outcome, but the Ukrainian side hopes that the next trilateral round will be “more serious and effective.”
