Zelensky claims Ukraine is ready to hold elections in the next 60 to 90 days

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, responding to criticism from US President Donald Trump, announced that his country is ready to hold presidential elections in the near future, provided that security is guaranteed by Western allies.

Speaking to reporters in a question-and-answer session, Zelensky emphasized: “I am ready for the elections and I ask the United States and European partners to provide the necessary security for their holding, so that Ukraine will be able to hold elections in the next 60-90 days.”

These remarks came after Trump, in an interview with Politico, accused Zelensky of using the war to maintain power and said that Ukraine was no longer a democracy because elections were not being held.

Zelensky denied the accusation, saying that the two main conditions for holding elections in wartime conditions are changing the relevant laws by parliament and ensuring security against Russian attacks.
