Qatari Emir appoints Mirdif Al-Qashouti as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Afghanistan
Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, has appointed Mirdif Ali Al Qashoti as the country’s ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Afghanistan, in an official decree.
Mr. Al-Qashouti, who previously served as the Chargé d’Affaires of the Qatari Embassy in Kabul, has been appointed to this new position with more than 17 years of diplomatic experience.
He was a member of the Qatari negotiating team in the Doha Agreement between the United States and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and played a key role in regional mediations.
This appointment is considered part of Qatar’s efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations with Afghanistan and is expected to help expand bilateral cooperation in the economic, humanitarian, and political fields.
Qatar, as the host of peace talks, has always played a constructive role in Afghanistan’s affairs.
