The moment the Lenin statue was taken down in Kyrgyzstan

Amidst whispers of Central Asian countries distancing themselves from Russia, Kyrgyz authorities have taken down the tallest statue of Lenin in Central Asia just days after a statue of Stalin was unveiled in Moscow.

This 23-meter monument was built in 1975 when Kyrgyzstan was part of the Soviet Union.

Photos released on Saturday showed the statue on the ground after being lowered by a crane.
