Trump has a very productive phone conversation with Putin to end the Ukraine war

US President Donald Trump said his two-hour phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin was “very productive” and that significant progress had been made in talks to end the Russia-Ukraine war.

Trump wrote in a post on the social network Truth Social that Putin congratulated him on his great achievement in establishing peace in the Middle East, which he had dreamed of for centuries; “I believe success in the Middle East will help our negotiations to end the war with Russia and Ukraine.”

He added that Putin appreciated the role of US First Lady Melinda Trump in children’s affairs and that this cooperation will continue.

Trump also indicated that the two sides have reached an agreement on trade between Russia and the United States, and that initial talks will be held next week by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio along with senior advisers at a yet-to-be-determined location.

The US President announced that after these meetings, he and Putin will meet in Budapest, Hungary, to finalize the shameful war between Russia and Ukraine.

“I will be meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office tomorrow and we will discuss this conversation and other matters; I believe great progress has been made,” Trump emphasized.

The phone call came a day before Trump’s meeting with Zelensky, in which Ukraine is seeking more military support, including American Tomahawk missiles, for strikes deeper into Russian territory.

The Kremlin also described the call as “positive and constructive” but did not provide further details.
