The first World Humanoid Robot Competition begins in Yakun

Starting tomorrow, Saturday, China will host the first World Humanoid Robot Competition, in which 280 teams from 16 countries around the world will compete over three days.

The National Speed Skating Oval, the venue for the 2022 Winter Olympics speed skating events, has been transformed into a state-of-the-art exhibition space for robots, equipped with storage and charging facilities.

The competition is being held in cooperation with the Beijing Municipality, China Media Group, the World Robot Cooperation Organization, and the International RoboCup Asia-Pacific Council, and includes 487 competitions in 26 different disciplines.

These disciplines range from traditional sports such as track and field, five-a-side football and boxing, to scenario-based challenges such as sorting medicines in a hospital, cleaning a hotel, and moving materials in a factory.

Robots compete in both autonomous and remote control modes, and their abilities in intelligent decision-making, teamwork, and performing everyday tasks are measured.
