Russian military advance in Ukraine to be the size of Luxembourg by 2025

The German publication BILD reported that the Russian army had seized about 2,395 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory in the first six months of 2025, which is roughly equivalent to the area of Luxembourg.

This represents an acceleration in Russia’s progress compared to the entire year of 2024, which was 3,388 square kilometers, although it is still considered slow.

The lack of troops and command in Ukraine has meant that small areas with only 5 to 10 soldiers can resist attacks by 50 or more Russians.

However, the skill of Ukrainian anti-tank quadcopter and artillery teams, along with the quality of equipment, has prevented Russia from advancing more quickly.
