The European Union extended the sanctions against Russia for another 6 months

Leaders of 27 European Union member states agreed to extend extensive sanctions against Russia for another six months at a meeting held on Thursday (26th of June) in Brussels.

With the new decision, comprehensive economic sanctions that include the seizure of more than 200 billion euros (equivalent to 234 billion dollars) of the assets of the Central Bank of Russia will continue until the beginning of 2026.

According to diplomatic sources, since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the European Union has imposed 17 sanctions against Moscow, which are renewed every six months with the consensus of the members.
