Heavy rains and flooding in Japan’s Chiba Prefecture have left at least four people dead, one missing and caused widespread transport disruption.
Reuters reported that some areas in Chiba received more than 360 millimeters of rain in 24 hours, damaging roads and railway lines, cutting power to thousands of homes, and blocking a number of routes.
About 7,000 passengers are stranded at Narita International Airport due to disruptions to flights; officials say Japanese military forces have been dispatched to the area to assist those affected.
Tokyo Electric Power Company said more than 22,000 households in Chiba were without power, and officials warned of the continued risk of flooding and landslides.
