New research shows honeybees have the ability to recognize human faces

The results of a scientific study show that honey bees are capable of recognizing and recognizing human faces, an ability that was previously attributed more to creatures with complex brains.

In popular belief and even in scientific circles, human face recognition is considered a very complex process that requires large brains and specialized neural areas to perform. For decades, the fusiform face area in the temporal lobe of the human brain has been studied as the main part responsible for face recognition.

However, new findings show that honey bees can also recognize facial patterns. In this study, bees trained with standard images used in psychological tests were able to identify the target face among similar faces with more than 80 percent accuracy.
