US Senate approves bill to limit Trump’s war powers against Iran

On Wednesday morning (20th of April ), the US Senate approved a bill that would require the Donald Trump administration to obtain Congressional authorization to proceed with any military attack against Iran.

The plan was approved by 50 votes in favor and 47 against, reaching this stage for the first time since the beginning of tensions with Iran.

Four Republican senators, along with a majority of Senate Democrats, have reportedly supported the resolution.

However, reports indicate that the plan is still in its early stages and is likely to be stopped in subsequent votes or by a veto by the US president.
