US seeks to buy over 3,200 Patriot missiles with significant budget increase

According to a Pentagon budget analysis, the US Department of War plans to purchase a total of 3,203 Patriot missiles in fiscal year 2027.

The program is part of a $1.5 billion budget request and represents a 44 percent increase over the previous fiscal year.

Reports indicate that this represents a 682 percent jump in production volume compared to 2026, when only 358 missiles were purchased.

The US Navy has also submitted its first request for the purchase of 405 Type 41 missiles, which are to be integrated into the Aegis system with the MSE PAC-3 Vertical Launch System (41-MK).

The total budget requested for this program is approximately $13.96 billion, most of which is allocated to accelerate production outside the normal budget process.

This increase is part of a broader US effort to bolster its weapons stockpiles and develop capabilities.
