Agreement on holding a new round of Iran-US talks Islamabad and Geneva hosting options

The Associated Press reported, citing a mediating diplomat, that Iran and the United States have agreed to hold a new round of talks.

According to this report, Islamabad has once again been mentioned as one of the main hosting options, with Geneva also being considered as another option.

American sources have said that this round of talks is likely to be held on Thursday.

Pakistani officials have emphasized that the first round of talks was part of an ongoing diplomatic process, and Pakistan has offered to host the second round of talks in Islamabad.

BBC and Bloomberg have also reported that contacts between the two sides are continuing, progress has been made, and efforts are underway to hold a new meeting before the ceasefire ends.

Reuters, citing informed sources, reported that the talks had progressed by about 80 percent and that the two sides may extend the ceasefire in the coming days.

The Iranian presidency also announced that Massoud Pezzekian, in contact with Emmanuel Macron, emphasized Tehran’s readiness to continue talks within the framework of international law and to protect national interests.
