The United Nations Human Rights Council, in an emergency session and with a majority of Western votes, adopted a resolution focusing on supporting the recent unrest and unrest in Iran.
This resolution, which was jointly proposed by European countries and the United States, was approved with 25 votes in favor, 7 against, and a number of abstentions.
The content of the resolution focuses on allegations regarding the human rights situation in Iran and interprets it within the framework of supporting protests and internal unrest.
The Pakistani representative at the meeting, while opposing the resolution, described it as a political and biased move, saying, “Pakistan has always been a friend of the government and people of Iran, and there is strong intimacy between the two countries. Reports of destruction of public property and government institutions in Iran are very worrying. Pakistan welcomes the return of normal conditions in Iran.”
He stressed that the Human Rights Council must clarify its position, adding that unilateral sanctions have worsened the human rights situation in Iran.
The Chinese representative also strongly criticized the holding of this emergency meeting, stating: “The recent developments in Iran are an internal matter and we do not support holding this meeting.”
China also accused the Human Rights Council of ignoring the crimes of the Israeli regime in the Gaza Strip and the genocide against the Palestinian people, calling the meeting an example of selective and double-dealing behavior.
News sources emphasize that this resolution was passed at a time when many countries consider it a political move and a lack of independence of the Council from Western pressure
