Deadly gas tanker explosion in Mexico kills 3, injures 70
According to news sources, a gas tanker explosion on a highway southeast of Mexico City, the capital of Mexico, has killed at least three people and injured more than 70.
The incident occurred in the Iz Tapalapa region, near the border with the city of Chalco in the state of Mexico.
According to reports, the gas tanker overturned and, after catching fire, caused a massive explosion that also damaged several other vehicles.
Drone footage shows firefighters trying to contain the flames and cool the charred remains of the tanker and surrounding vehicles.
Mexican authorities said at least 19 of the injured suffered severe burns and that the death toll was likely to rise, and that an investigation was underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.
