Alex Plebet, pilot of last American flight from Kabul, is running for a seat in the House of Representatives

Alex Plebet, the US Air Force pilot who flew the last American plane out of Kabul airport at the end of the 20-year US war in Afghanistan, has announced that he will run for a seat in the US House of Representatives in South Carolina’s 1st congressional district.

Pelbet, who has described himself as a conservative loyal to Trump, has promised to act as a political force supporting President Donald Trump if he wins and support his policies, including cracking down on illegal immigration and opposing “Woke” policies.

“I was the last one to leave Afghanistan, but the mission is not over yet,” he said in a statement.

The announcement comes as the 2026 US House of Representatives elections, scheduled for November 3, 2026, will see multiple contests across the United States
