Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry summons US charge d’affaires over suspension of military aid
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry summoned the US charge d’affaires in response to the Pentagon’s decision to halt the delivery of a significant portion of military weapons to Kiev.
The ministry’s statement said that the conversation with the American diplomat focused on US military assistance and defense cooperation between the two countries.
Ukrainian officials emphasized in this meeting that any delay or halt in supporting Ukraine’s defense capabilities will only strengthen the aggressor’s morale to continue the war and will not contribute to peacemaking.
According to a report by the Politico website, citing informed sources, the Pentagon has stopped sending some air defense missiles and precision munitions to Ukraine due to concerns about excessive depletion of US weapons stockpiles.
The sources said that the decision was made in early June during the Joe Biden administration, but is now being implemented as Ukraine faces the most intense Russian missile and drone attacks in Kiev and other areas.
