Trump asks Supreme Court to allow expedited deportation of illegal immigrants

US President Donald Trump has asked the Supreme Court to allow the government to deport illegal immigrants without prior notice and the opportunity to present reasons about potential risks in third countries.

Reuters reported on Tuesday, May 27, that the request is part of Trump’s efforts to intensify deportations and enforce his stricter immigration policies.

The U.S. Department of Justice has asked the Supreme Court to overturn a decision by federal judge Brian Murphy in Boston that required the government to give immigrants a legal defense before deporting them.

Judge Murphy issued a temporary restraining order in April, saying that carrying out such deportations without adequate notice and opportunity was unconstitutional.

Although an appeals court upheld Judge Murphy’s ruling, the Trump administration continues to insist on implementing this policy, saying that the decision has disrupted sensitive diplomatic efforts for US national security and foreign policy.
