The former head of the Central Bank of Canada replaced Justin Trudeau
About two months after the announcement of Justin Trudeau’s resignation from the leadership of the ruling Canadian Mark Party, Carney, the former head of the country’s central bank, was elected as his successor and Prime Minister of Canada.
Voting to determine the new leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, which started a few days ago, ended last Saturday, the 19th of May, and 59-year-old Mark Carney took the leadership of the ruling party with 86% of the votes.
Mr. Carney said in his speech that Canada will maintain its retaliatory tariffs until the Americans respect us and vowed to win the trade war with Trump.
